Product Review: Arnold Grains & More Double Active 100% Whole Wheat Bread
Recently, Laurie, of Marina Maher Communications, sent me a sample of
Arnold Grains & More Double Active 100% Whole Wheat Bread. Thanks, Laurie!
Laurie also sent me a Grains & More fact sheet, and here is some information about the breads:
“These five 100% whole wheat varieties were created to maximize one core element in each bread to boost the benefits of every slice while maintaining delicious taste and texture.”
As it says on the front of the package, it’s called Double Active bread because it’s “a double blend of inulin and wheat fiber.”
And it describes just what inulin is on the back of the package:
And on the Grains & More fact sheet, it says,
“Prebiotics help support a healthy digestive system. The blend of inulin and wheat fiber can help keep a healthy balance in your intestinal tract and support and maintain your overall health.”
Here is the nutrition information:
And here is a helpful recap from the fact sheet:
Health Attributes (per slice)
- Excellent source of fiber – 5 grams
- Good source of protein – 5 grams
- 18 grams of whole grains
- 100% whole wheat
- Heart healthy
- Zero trans fat
So, yes, the Arnold Double Active bread is good for you, but how does it taste? Delicious! This bread is very hearty and yummy! I have really enjoyed this bread, as you can see from the variety of ways I’ve been eating it:
1.) Bread with olive oil
(Sorry, forgot to take a picture of this one!)
2.) Toast with peanut butter and sliced banana
(That’s an old picture, but it looked exactly like that!)
3.) Yummy sandwich:
4.) Indulgent treat:
I used this recipe to make the apple pan betty -
it’s very good, but you could definitely cut down on the butter and sugar to make it healthier, and it would still be pretty tasty!
(Edited to Add: I would definitely cut back on the butter – the first bite I had wasn’t that bad, but the rest had a very overpowering buttery taste)
5.) More toast!
As you can see, I really enjoyed this bread – thanks again to Laurie for sending me a sample!

Great product review! I had never really thought of inulin as a good ingredient, maybe because a lot of products consider inulin a fiber, but in reality it doesn’t act like a fiber and doesn’t contribute the same health benefits as fiber. But if the fiber from this bread is truly from whole grains, that’s awesome. I really like their other breads, so I’d probably like this one. Great creations too, especially the last one with apples and blueberries, yum!

Interesting, I’ll have to look into that! If it helps, the first ingredient listed on the package is whole wheat flour, which is good!
