Product Review: Better Whey of Life Yogurt

Recently, I was sent coupons to sample Better Whey of Life yogurts and review them on the blog.  Thanks, Kasey!

Here is some info about the yogurt from the Better Whey of Life website:

I was excited to try out a few of the yogurts since Kasey also sent me the nutrition info for each flavor of yogurt!

However, the store only had the peach mango flavor, so that’s what I got.

Peach Mango Yogurt

Peach Mango Yogurt

I had two of the yogurts and gave one yogurt to a friend, “B”, to try.

The first time I tried the yogurt, I did not like it, but only because it was hot out and by the time I got back from the store, the yogurt had basically turned to liquid.  I did like the flavor, though.

The second time I tried the yogurt, I liked it since I ate it after it was in the fridge for a bit and therefore it was a creamier texture.

Here is my official review (based on the 2nd time I tried the yogurt), along with what B thought.

Taste

I really liked the peach mango flavor as I thought the peach and mango paired together nicely, and also, it was pretty mild, and not too sugary – it was a nice combination of sweet and tangy.

B did not really like that the yogurt was tangy – prefers yogurt to just be sweet and not tangy at all.

Texture

It says to shake the yogurt, so I did, but I also stirred it a little bit as well.  The texture was a little bit thinner and a little bit less creamy than regular yogurt.

I thought the texture was good, but it did take some getting used to since I am used to thicker, creamier yogurt.   B did not like the texture – prefers creamier yogurts.

Fullness Factor/Satiety

Since this yogurt is not as creamy as regular yogurt, and of course not as thick as Greek yogurt, it feels like you are eating something nice and light.  However, after I finished eating this yogurt I felt so full immediately afterwards.  This was probably from all the protein since it contained 15 grams of protein per container.

B didn’t notice any difference in satiety between this yogurt and regular yogurts.  I think this is just because B was too focused on the difference in the flavor and the texture of the yogurt to notice!

Overall

B prefers yogurts that are sweeter and creamier, and therefore probably wouldn’t have this yogurt again.

As for me, I really liked the peach mango flavor as it was not too sweet, so I think I would also really like the other flavors if I tried them.

That being said, I would probably only eat half a container of the yogurt at a time just because a whole container of the yogurt made me feel a little too full.

Thanks again to Kasey for the coupons!

    Daphne:

Hi there! Thanks for the yogurt review! I’m the CEO of Better Whey of Life and I appreciate the very thorough and honest review. A couple of interesting things about the texture. We heat our yogurts very gently in order to preserve the integrity of the proteins. This results in a “lighter” textured yogurt. One could argue that our yogurts are less adulterated from a heat treatment standpoint…which can be a good thing.

As for the sweetness, we really believe that less sugar is the “whey” to go. So our yogurts have 1/3 less sugar than your typical Dannon or Yoplait. If you are used to these types of yogurts, you may need to add a bit of your own favorite sweetener. However, most people we have surveyed find it a perfect balance of sweet and tang!

I’m glad you liked the yogurt! Hopefully, some day soon, we will have a product for Subject “B” too!

    Thanks again,
