A Touch of Blush
My new favorite apple? Golden Delicious!
We went apple picking this past weekend and picked some of those – look how nice and ripe they are, with a touch of blush, just kissed from the sun. So pretty!
Here’s one all cut up for a snack. I just love these - they have a really nice crunch when you bite into them and such a nice flavor.
I’ve been eating an apple a day because we also got a ton of fuji apples. (Served here with a chicken teriyaki meatball sandwich – a good tip is to slice the meatballs in half so that they sit flat on the bread, making it easier to eat)
The fuji apples were good but not as ripe as the golden delicious. So I would say that this year the golden delicious were better for snacking while the fuji were better for adding to meals or having as a side in addition to something else. Food Dude and I have added the fuji apples to salads and have also made this pizza again.
Oh, and just as a side note – the apples this year were huge! Last year I think we got a lot of little baby apples – like, you could literally just take two or three bites out of them and that would be it. This year, they were humongous! And funnily enough, we’ve been going through them even quicker! Both the golden delicious and fuji apples are just going, going, gone!
Have you gone apple picking this year? What are your favorite varieties of apples to pick?

I always say an apple a day keeps the RD away!
Gala is my favorite and what a great time of year to indulge in them! Have not been to pick put did go to an organic non picking orchard. Had some great hot apple wine1 Your pics are beautiful!
