Ultimate Tuna Sub

Spread two cans of tuna fish (this was for two people) on a soft subway roll.

Add two slices of American cheese, plus a little bit of cheddar cheese.  Microwave for about 15 to 20 seconds, until the cheese has just started to melt and the bread is soft.  Do not microwave any more than that, as the bread will harden much too quickly and become a crumbly mess when you try to eat it.

Slice two pickles in half, then place on sandwich (adds some nice crunch and added texture).

Add two hard boiled eggs, each chopped in half:

Then add about 1/4 to 1/2 of an avocado directly to the bread, and spread some mustard on top of all the sandwich toppings.

This results in maximum flavor!  Because the avocado is right on the bread and is one of the first things you’ll taste when you take a bite of the sandwich, it doesn’t have to compete with all the other sandwich toppings, and its buttery flavor comes shining through.  Likewise, because the mustard has a stronger flavor, it complements the sandwich toppings well and can be placed directly on them.

The other reason you want to spread the avocado on the bread itself and the mustard on the sandwich toppings, is for ease of eating!  The avocado prevents the bread from getting soggy, and when you fold the bread over all the sandwich toppings, the mustard is nice and contained, so it doesn’t really squirt out and get all over the place!

Serve with a glass of water to wash everything down, and you’re good to go!
