Back to what I do best

Ah, random meals!  I think that’s one of my favorite things about my blog (hmmm, imagine me saying something positive about my blog – now that’s a change!)  I was sorting through all my pictures the other day, and whoa, did I ever throw together some random meals!  I think those are the best – you just kind of thow together what’s in the fridge, see if it works, and there you go, a new and totally different meal!  Okay, okay, so the following meal is not that random, but it’s random to me, okay?! :)

Chicken with katsu sauce, avocado, biscuit, cantaloupe, Asian pear

Chicken with katsu sauce, avocado, biscuit, cantaloupe, Asian pear

That’s what I had for breakfast!  So yeah, a biscuit is typical breakfast fare, as is fruit, and even avocado.  But chicken?!  I don’t think anyone really ever has chicken for breakfast.  There’s usually either a choice of ham, bacon, or sausage, but I don’t really think chicken.  Or maybe I’m wrong and just can’t think of many breakfast meals with chicken.  Whatever!  It was random to me, so there!  :P

And just because it’s been a while since I’ve posted my daily meals, I’ll just take a minute to refresh your memory on my eating habits (just so you’re all in the know, not that it’s actually all that interesting, lol!)  As I’ve mentioned before, I tend to be a grazer, as I am a really slow eater and it takes me forever to finish a meal!  It’s pretty unusual for me to finish a meal in one sitting, unless I’m really hungry.  So it’s no surprise I didn’t finish this one (will just have the rest later).

Here’s what I actually ate:

  • 3/4 of the chicken
  • 1/2 of the avocado
  • 1/2 of the biscuit
  • 1/2 of the cantaloupe
  • none of the Asian pear

I also had a large glass of water with this meal, so it’s no wonder I got so full so fast!

Oh, and here’s a really good tip -  instead of adding barbeque sauce or sweet and sour sauce to chicken (chicken nuggets, roast chicken, etc.), switch it up and use katsu sauce!  Mmmm, it’s so savory and flavorful!  I love, love, love katsu sauce!  It makes everything taste so good!  Seriously, try it!  It brings everything to a whole new level of delicious!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post!  I feel like I’m getting my groove back!  Yay!  :)

Carin ~ Thanks for stopping by! Katsu sauce is the dipping sauce for pork katsu (breaded pork cutlets), a yummy meal you can get at Japanese restaurants. You can find katsu sauce in the regular supermarket! I like the Kikkoman brand! Here’s some more info from the their site:

“Tangy, sweet and full of flavor, Kikkoman Katsu Sauce is a classic! This sauce is the traditional Japanese accompaniment for tonkatsu — Japanese-style breaded pork cutlets. It’s made from a specially balanced blend of applesauce, onion, tomato paste, carrots and naturally brewed Kikkoman Soy Sauce that adds flavor to meat and poultry. Use Kikkoman Katsu as an alternate dipping sauce for hearty recipes like breaded pork cutlets and chops, country-fried steak and chicken. It adds a flavor that everyone in the family will enjoy. This sauce is naturally low in calories and made without MSG.”
