It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
In my house (the Christmas tree is up!) and on my plate – see look, Christmas colors – red and green!

Honeydew melon and red bell pepper
Okay, so maybe it would look more holiday-ish if I had a food that was a darker shade of green, like spinach, but you get the idea!
Or, you know, I could have just put a slice of fruit cake on the plate! Ha, you know how everyone hates Christmas and there’s the long-running joke of it always being sent from person to person, since people hate it so much?! Well, we used to be sent a fruit cake every single year for Christmas, and I always wanted to like it since it looked so pretty and delicious, but alas, I just didn’t. But low and behold, I tried it every year and suddenly, much to my surprise, I found that I liked it! Yeah, I have no idea how that happened, but I actually thought it tasted pretty good! Funnily enough, that was the last year we ever received a fruit cake! D’oh! Ah well, plenty of other yummy things to eat anyway, right?!
Speaking of yummy things to eat, I made a fruit and walnut parfait with a chile-infused ganache the other day:

I made this recipe for the
Chile & A Spoon Contest over at Marx Foods!
A bunch of other bloggers entered as well! Basically, the challenge was to create a recipe featuring one of the six varieties of dried chile samples we were sent, plus it had to be eaten with a spoon!

- If you like, you can vote for me here! Voting will be open until Decemeber 5th at midnight! Thanks!
And while you’re there, be sure to check out all the other awesome recipes as well! All the dishes sound positively drool-worthy, plus I’m sure everyone will find some fantastic new blogs to read!
Some other cool food products I’ve received lately include:
- Nasoya Nayonnaise, plus coupons to try other products, from Nasoya
- Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, from the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program
- Meditalia Pesto and Tapenade, from Peaceworks
- Boboli Pizza Crust, from Marina Maher Communications
Oh, and speaking of Marina Maher Communications, I received a lovely holiday card from them in the mail the other day! How nice and thoughtful of them!
All of these reviews will be posted next week, along with reviews of some recipes I was sent to try, as well as some recipes of my own.
Have a nice afternoon, everyone!

Hi!
I love your site. I have always thought fruitcake actually sounded like a pretty tasty thing- but people do talk about it like it is to be dreaded. I think you might have persuaded me to try one!
Maybe I’ll also make a red-green veggie medley tonight!
Cheers-
Meri

Hi Meri ~ Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoy the fruitcake if you try it, but I think it’s one of those things you either love or hate! I was persistent, though -started out hating it, kept trying it, and then one day found I really liked it! Maybe my taste buds changed or something, lol!
