A Tale of Two Smoothies
Haha, yeah, that’s all I could come up with for a title! Whatever, it’s better than just calling the post “Smoothies,” lol!
Anyway, I made my favorite smoothie yesterday to have with dinner:

Strawberry Smoothie
I love it because it’s so simple to make – all you need are three ingredients – frozen strawberries, water, and applesauce. The applesauce is the key ingredient – it makes the smoothie nice and thick!
I was going to have the smoothie along with some food for dinner, but I actually didn’t feel like eating anything even though I was hungry. So I decided to save the strawberry smoothie for the next day so that I could make one that was more filling. And so I made another smoothie, this time adding avocado.

Strawberry Smoothie with Avocado
I made the smoothie almost the same way, with the exception of skipping the applesauce in favor of adding about 1/4 of a large avocado instead. Yeah, I definitely added too much avocado, as that’s all it tasted like. I added some applesauce to the smoothie so it wouldn’t be as overpowering. And it worked, as it didn’t really taste like avocado, but was just slightly buttery, with the texture of a milkshake since it was so creamy. You actually couldn’t even taste the applesauce at all. It was different from what I was used to, but didn’t taste all that bad so I didn’t mind it too much.
What I did mind was the color of the smoothie. As you all know, I like everything I eat or drink to look nice, as it makes them look more appetizing, and this smoothie just did not look all that great. I mean, let’s compare the color of the plain strawberry smoothie to the one made with avocado:

The plain strawberry smoothie is such a pretty vibrant color! One of the reasons I love making these smoothies is not only because it tastes so good, but because it is such a pretty color! As for the strawberry smoothie with avocado, well, it just does not look all that appetizing. The color is just so “blah” that I don’t really want to drink it since it just doesn’t look like it would taste good.
As far as taste goes, I just love the plain strawberry smoothie. It’s just so refreshing and makes me feel so energized.

But the strawberry smoothie with avocado, while I didn’t mind it at first, after having a few more sips of it, I decided that I really didn’t like the buttery taste of the avocado that much even though it wasn’t as overpowering as before. And so I decided to try and make the smoothie taste better, even though I knew that there was a good chance that it would make the smoothie taste worse. I wanted to try it anyway. So I added a couple big dollops of peanut butter to it. Ummm, yeah, not sure why I thought it was a good idea to add so much peanut butter. Just as with the avocado, all it tasted like now was peanut butter. So I tried adding a bit of honey to it to see if it would make the smoothie slightly sweeter and take away the peanut butter taste. It didn’t. It still just tasted like peanut butter. And so I added some applesauce to see if that would diminish the peanut butter taste a little bit. It didn’t. Again, it still just tasted like peanut butter.
And so after all that, I actually am saving the smoothie with avocado for later, and will just take a sip of it here and there so I don’t feel sick from it (as it really tastes strongly of peanut butter and just seems so weird to drink!) I actually ended up having the plain strawberry smoothie

with a slice of pizza for dinner (should have added some veggies to my meal but really didn’t feel like I could stomach them for some reason?). Anyway, next time I try adding avocado and peanut butter to my smoothies, I’ll just add a tiny bit at first, and then when I get used to the taste, can add more the next time!
Okay, that’s all for now!
Talk to you guys tomorrow!
